Abdou Beukeu Sow is a doctor in information and communication science. His PhD focused on scientific and technical information (STI) studied in relation to social representations. A specialist in scientific information and bibliometrics, Dr Sow has participated in and conducted several projects in this field, including the creation of the institutional archive SENGALIST with the National Centre for Scientific and Technical Documentation, supported by the Senegalese Ministry for Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and the creation of a database of Senegalese skills in the diaspora, a project initiated by the Senegalese National Academy of Sciences and Techniques. Dr Sow is also a member of the group of experts in charge of implementing the CAMES programme for the Recognition and Indexation of Scientific Journals and Publications (RIRP).
In addition to STI management, Abdou Beukeu Sow’s work includes research and teaching in the areas of (i) visualisation techniques for tools for bibliometric analysis and the scientific visibility of researchers, (ii) text mining as a response to information overload and the problems of underuse of Information Retrieval Systems (IRS), and (iii) analysis of researchers' information and communication practices and the question of scientific information from a sociological point of view and questioning the impact of social representations on these practices.
